With over 22 million visitors and participation from 147 countries, EXPO Milano 2015 was a global celebration of innovation and sustainability. One of its most forward-thinking showcases, the Future Food District, offered a provocative glimpse into how data, design, and technology could transform the way we produce, distribute, and consume food.
In the public square of the EXPO Milano 2015 Future Food District, some of the most intriguing and innovative solutions for integrated urban agriculture are on display. The Urban Algae Folly, designed by ecoLogicStudio and situated at the District’s entrance, is an interactive pavilion that showcases living micro-algal cultures. It serves as a tangible manifestation of architecture’s future in the realm of bio-digitality.
The work included filming, editing, sound design and post production of the pavilion showcase, as well as designing and animating the infographic elements based on the input of the architects of the project. A version of the video was played during the event in the common space of the Future Food District of the EXPO.
